Innovation takes centre stage at Pharma Industry Awards UK 2024

Clinical innovation and manufacturing excellence share the spotlight at this year’s awards
The prestigious ceremony, held at the ICC Birmingham, celebrated excellence across Britain’s £88 billion life sciences sector.
The awards, which saw 44 companies submitting 71 entries across 21 categories, showcased the remarkable innovation driving the UK’s pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors.
The event attracted 266 industry leaders and was hosted by comedian Alun Cochrane.
The Pharma Industry Awards UK, organised by BusinessRiver, celebrates the achievements of the entire pharmaceutical ecosystem, from researchers to CROs, engineers to marketing teams.
Now in its second year, the programme provides a prestigious platform for recognising excellence and innovation in the UK’s pharmaceutical sector.
The judging panel cited Moulson’s leadership style and record in developing high-performing teams across multiple therapeutic areas.
In other major categories, Bouygues Energies & Services claimed the Large Pharma Company of the Year award, while Roseway Labs secured the SME Pharma Company of the Year award.

Kate Shaw, founder and CEO of Innovative Trials, was honoured with the Women in Pharma award, sponsored by Kuehne+Nagel, for her remarkable contributions to clinical trial patient recruitment and retention.
Shaw founded Innovative Trials in 2010. Under her leadership, she has grown the company into a global leader in clinical trial patient recruitment and retention solutions.
“It’s truly humbling to be recognised by my peers in this way,” said Shaw. “The calibre of competition across all the award categories was exceptionally high. My win tonight would never have been possible without my incredible team behind me, who share my vision and work relentlessly to make it a reality. They are the real winners here.”
The Health & Safety award was presented to CSL Seqirus. Nige Hilton, VP Manufacturing and Site Head, Liverpool, commented: “The Pharma Industry Awards are a fantastic opportunity to recognise people, teams and organisations for the tremendous contributions they are making to this critically important sector.”
Diaceutics claimed the Innovation of the Year award for their groundbreaking DXRX Signal platform. Jordan Clark, Chief Data Officer at Diaceutics, said it was an honour to be among such esteemed companies and individuals who are driving excellence and making significant contributions to the industry. “This recognition is a testament to the dedication and hard work of multiple teams at Diaceutics,” Clark added.
Upperton Pharma Solutions won the Large Pharma Project of the Year award for their ambitious Trent Gateway Project. Nikki Whitfield, Chief Executive Officer of Upperton, commented: “The dedication and attention to detail by our team have allowed us to elevate our services while working with the best talent in the Midlands and the wider sector.”
Bogomil Alexandrov, CEO at ProLact, said the company was honoured to be a finalist for the second consecutive year in the biotech category. “The event showcased the dynamic growth of the probiotics sector and provided invaluable networking opportunities with industry leaders,” he stated.
